Cove Creek School presents our first, community-wide environmental day, that we're affectionally calling "Blooms and Buzz." The highlights of the day will be the building of our school garden and the presentation of our beekeeping venture. There will be many other activities going on at the school through out the day and afternoon, as teachers will integrate the environmental theme into their lessons, guest experts will provide nature-inspired mini workshops and students will showcase eco-friendly projects that have been going on around the school. Parents are invited to observe lessons and participate in activities during the school day, by just "dropping in". In the afternoon, from 3-5pm we will invite the community to join us in activities such as: finishing the garden, painting rocks for the garden, solar mini car races, scavenger hunt, honey tastings and more. There will be light refreshments and snacks served at 5:00pm. The events, food and drinks are FREE of charge.
We hope to finish off with a bonfire and s'mores!
If you have any questions about Blooms & Buzz, feel free to contact Marta ([email protected] or 617-378-8148.

Information for Teachers:
Thank you for participating in B&B Day. Parents will be invited to observe lessons throughout the day. If you have any questions, please talk to your SIT representative, Mr. Cone or Marta. Many of you are parents, so check the list to the right as well. Some useful links for teachers: Feel free to adopt your own environmental project for your class. For example, add to one of the pollinator garden, create your own in a different part of the school, make bird treats, make smaller flower planters to line the path to the garden, create a nature themed "game show" for parents or other classes to participate in, etc. |
